These guys are very amusing. They need to group with Mortiis, a Swede who has been doing himself up as an evil Troll and playing dark ambient music mostly for about a decade. What's odd though, and not restricted to Lordi but seems to happen a lot with European acts, is that they go through the trouble of assembling the trapping of something really "hard" and theatrically dark, but then just play pretty bland, kind of popish music.
It reminds me especially of Rammstein. When he got popular in the U.S., it was in part because because his electronic music sounded kind of hard, like say late Ministry, but if you know German, his lyrics are the silliest things, songs about how much he loves his little brother and riding a tear across the waves to Africa. I mean, there's a conceptual gap in play here.
